Skoda India has previewed the face lifted 2014 Skoda Superb on their Face book page. Unveiled at the Shanghai Motor Show in April last year, this model is expected to keep the model ‘fresh’ till an all-new Superb is unveiled next year. With the facelift set to be launched at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo, Skoda continues to offer the present, which is still being listed on its official website.
The 2014 Superb is based on the current car, so the changes are mostly aesthetic. The car gets a new ligament in the form of a new grille, a new black and silver logo on the bonnet, new headlamps and redesigned air vents and fog lamps. There aren’t any changes to the side profile except for the new alloy wheels. At the rear, the number plate has now been moved up on to the boot lid, which continues as a notchback. It also gets the new C-shaped end lights along with dual exhaust pipes on the left.
Within, the Superb interiors in the current car’s, with the option of having them in either beige or black, with leather upholstery. The engine line-up is also predicted to remain the same with petrol and a diesel. The 1.8-litre TSI petrol produces 158bhp and 250Nm of torque while the 2.0-litre TDI diesel produces 138bhp and 320Nm of torque. The car will be available with a six-speed manual and a six-speed DSG automatic gearbox with the latter only being offered for the diesel variants.
When launched, the Skoda’s flagship will go up against the Nissan Teana, Toyota Camry, Hyundai Sonata and the VW Pass at. The current car has been the best-seller in the D-Segment for a while now and with this facelift, Skoda hopes to retain its position in the Indian car market.
