Talk about starting
the New Year in full throttle, Jaguar-Land Rover (JLR) seems to have taken
literally. It has silently launched a petrol variant of its Jaguar XF sedan in
India, priced at Rs 48.3 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai).
The Tata-owned
company is clearly looking to broaden its line-up in India with the inclusion
of a petrol mill. With this addition, the XF range in India is available with
four engine options — the 187.4bhp 2.2-litre diesel, the 271.23bhp
3.0-litre diesel, the 236.71bhp 2.0L petrol and the range-topping
503.01bhp with the XFR 5.0L. The 2.0-litre inline four-cylinder engine in
the XF 2.0-litre petrol makes 236.71bhp and throws out 340Nm of max
torque.
The 2.0-litre petrol
engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and does the 0-100kmph
sprint in a claimed 7.9 seconds. The top speed is limited to 250kmph. Jaguar
claims a combined fuel efficiency of 10.8kmpl for the XF 2.0 petrol.
In terms of
features, the car comes equipped with standard features like sunroof, full-size
spare wheel, TV tuner, rear-view camera and navigation controls. On the safety
front, the XF gets front and side airbags for the driver and front passenger
and Pedestrian Contact Sensing.
JLR India Vice
President Rohit Suri said on the occasion of the launch, "The Jaguar XF
2.0L petrol engine is a definite head turner and an excellent sedan that
combines elegant design, luxurious style and classy appeal."
The Jaguar XF petrol
is priced a lakh over the 2.2 diesel version and will be produced as a CKD at
its Chikhli facility in Gujarat.
