Ford Ecosport - Carworld1.com

Indian customers of the Ford EcoSport must feel heavily short changed, as every one of the five car produced in Chennai plant is exported. Source says that, Ford India has asked their dealer to ask customer to either change their order to anther model of Ford or cancel their order.

The Ford’s plant in Chennai is one of only four manufacturing facilities in the world to make the EcoSport – the other three being Ford’s facilities in Brazil, China and Thailand – puts more pressure on the car maker to export the car. Statistics suggest that of the 45,727 units of the EcoSport manufactured in Chennai, 9,647 units (a hefty 21 percent) have been exported.
This strategy of export seems to take benefit of depreciated INR versus US Dollar. Price of the Ecosport has been increased by approximately 11 per cent since its launch in June 2013. Get more information from www.carworld1.com .

Maruti to raise the bar with new clutch-less car; to be unveiled at Delhi Auto Expo 2014

NEW DELHI: The country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki will soon introduce a revolutionary technology allowing manual gears to be used like automatic transmission without engaging the clutch. What's more, the improved technology will not affect fuel efficiency or the price of the car. Maruti will be the first in India to debut this automatic manual transmission (AMT), a technology derived from the famed F1 motorsports arena that is expected to be a turning point in the small-car segm.
Officially though, Maruti Suzuki did not respond to a query citing that the company does not comment on its future models. These cars will not have the third clutch pedal, and the hydraulic system will allow the driver to shift gears without using the clutch, either sequentially or fully automatically. The biggest advantage of this technology is that it will deliver high fuel mileage like manual transmission cars. At present, auto transmission cars compromise a great deal on fuel efficiency.

The new car is expected to be a shade more expensive than the regular manually-operated gear cars, but way cheaper than the automatics that are priced almost 25 per cent higher. Automatic gears have failed to make an impact in compact cars and hatchbacks due to their higher prices, though they are a big hit with larger sedans and luxury cars.
For instance, Maruti's manual-geared A-Star LXi starts at Rs 3.88 lakh, while the automatic version is priced at Rs 4.77 lakh. According to people familiar with the development, Maruti is taking the lead to incorporate this sophisticated technology in its mass-market compact cars to maintain its leadership position.

Audi pads up for 2014 with fastest car in its stable

NEW DELHI: As it faces stiff competition from compatriot Mercedes-Benz, German luxury maker Audi has lined up a bevy of new cars as part of a product offensive in India - bringing its most powerful super-sports car in the 'RS 7' while also driving in the A3, which will be the cheapest sedan from the company's stable. Audi, which managed 11% growth in 2013 and became the first luxury car maker to cross 10,000 units in annual sales, has been under pressure from Mercedes-Benz over the past few months. Mercedes, which finished 2013 with sales of over 9,000 units, has been breathing down Audi's neck and had even overtaken the company for some months in 2013. However, with the new launches planned from as early as January 6, Audi hopes to maintain its edge in the premium market. "Audi has emerged as a winning brand by closing the year on a record-making note... we look forward to continue our performance in 2014," Joe King, who took over as new head for Audi India late last year, told TOI.
